Dr. Nordin is Professor (Research), Departments of Orthopaedics and Environmental Medicine, School of Medicine, New York University (NYU), New York, NY, USA. Dr. Nordin was the President of International Society for the study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) 1999–2000, President World Spine Care Europe 2014–2018 and President of EUROSPINE 2016–2017.

She is the founder and past Director of the Occupational and Industrial Orthopaedic Center (OIOC), NYU Langone Medical Center and the Past Programme Director of the Programme of Ergonomics and Biomechanics, Graduate School of Arts and Science, NYU (19842012). She has been a panel member of 6 larger taskforces; AHCPR Clinical Practice Guidelines for Acute Low Back Problems in Adults, the Quebec Task Force on Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD), the Paris Task Force on Exercises, Low Back Pain and the Bone and Joint Decade 2000–2010 Task Force on Neck Pain and its Associated Disorders, Development of Minor Injury Treatment Protocol Project, Ontario Government and the Global Spine Care Initiative (GSCI). Dr. Nordin has won numerous awards such as the Volvo Award, the Grammer European Spine Journal Award and Junior Faculty Nobel Forum Lecture, Nobel Forum, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. She has published over 230 peer-reviewed scientific articles and the author of several books in biomechanics and musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Nordin’s primary interest is to prevent disability for spine disorders. She has advised and/or examined 35 PhDs and Dr.Med.Sci., in 10 countries, many of them leaders in the field of prevention of disability for musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Nordin is currently working with several projects focusing on evidence-based medicine for spine pain, transfer of knowledge to different countries, cultures and adaptation, and how to develop guidelines for spine disorders into health promoting policies.
