Petra Cazzanelli graduated from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna (Austria) with an MSc in Biotechnology in 2018. Her PhD work at RIT focuses on the identification of Toll-like receptor associated microRNAs and their functional role in intervertebral disc pathophysiology, with a specific focus on inflammation, catabolism and mechanosignaling. Generally, she is interested in academic research at the interface between medicine, engineering and biology.
