EUROSPINE 2021 was a great experience with an absolutely unique atmosphere! 1.991 attendees from 72 countries joined us in Vienna, 96 delegates expanded their knowledge at the pre-day courses, 102 braved the rain and the early hours to join the ESF Charity Run and 129 enjoyed the traditional atmosphere and celebrated reuniting with colleagues at the congress evening.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended virtually and in-person and helped us make the first hybrid EUROSPINE meeting so special. We already look forward to reuniting at EUROSPINE 2022 in Milan.

With the EUROSPINE Annual Meeting still 4 months away, we are moving forward with the preparations for the event as a hybrid meeting, as planned. The outlook to be able to hold live events in Vienna is very promising. Be assured that EUROSPINE is monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. Don’t worry, if it is the case that the physical part of the Annual Meeting will not be possible, EUROSPINE 2021 is set up to be a fully virtual meeting.

EUROSPINE this year will be one week earlier in Vienna, 6-8 October 2021.
The worldwide pandemic has forced us all to adapt to a new way of working and interacting, it has also taught us the value of flexibility. Our top priority is to be able to deliver educational activities in a safe environment whilst at the same time being cautious in developing our plans. As exceptional times call for exceptional measures we have decided to move EUROSPINE 2021 to Vienna, Austria, and hold the meeting from 6-8 October at Messe Wien.
EUROSPINE 2021 will remain as a hybrid congress but with the emphasis on a face to face meeting in Vienna. So, if the new date is difficult for you to attend in-person you can still join virtually and/or watch every session on-demand, at any time you want.
A big thanks goes out to Gothenburg for their flexibility and extraordinary support. We are delighted to be returning there in 2026. We are optimistic that we will all be able to over come the challenges caused by the pandemic by the summer, so that most of us will resume traveling and be able to meet in-person in Vienna, the No 1 city in the world for quality of living.
All of us at EUROSPINE are looking forward to meeting you in person!

Great news! We've extended the abstract submission deadline
The deadline for abstract submission for EUROSPINE 2021 has been extended by more than two weeks to
22 March 2021
to reflect the latest developments in the fight against the Corona pandemic. As we strive to balance health and safety with an eventual return to normality, we hope this extension will ease the pressure for submitters.
Authors will have the option to present their work online or in-person and can decide about their preferred presentation format later this year.
We look forward to receiving your contributions!

We are excited to announce that EUROSPINE 2021 will be held as a hybrid meeting which will allow people to join the in-person conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 13–15 October 2021 and/or to participate virtually.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that we cannot plan for an exclusive in-person event if we want all of our members and stakeholders to have the chance to join us. On the back of our successful EUROSPINE 2020 virtual meeting, we’ve decided that EUROSPINE 2021 will be hybrid - which means you can attend virtually and/or in-person.
We know that nothing can really replace personal interactions. However, the hybrid meeting format will also allow people to attend EUROSPINE 2021 who may not be able to travel due to the pandemic or its economic impact. Making the Annual Meeting more accessible helps EUROSPINE achieve its underlying mission to provide and support best practice lifelong learning and research in spinal disorders as well as bring together all spine-related European stakeholders across disciplines, cultures and countries.
At this point, we are confident that the physical part of the meeting will take place as planned with an appropriate health & safety concept. We will take all necessary measures to provide a safe, productive and enriching experience. We know that all of you would appreciate the opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues and make new connections at a face-to-face meeting. However, if circumstances demand it, we will be ready to transform it to a virtual event.
EUROSPINE 2021 will be hosting one event with two experiences – both giving you live access to the entire scientific programme. If you decide to join us in-person, we’d love to welcome you to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden from 13–15 October 2021.
Don’t worry you don't have to decide now – if you change your mind you can always switch to the virtual event or vice versa. Don't miss out! Registration opens in March 2021.
We’re excited about the new format and look forward to welcoming you both virtually and in-person!

EUROSPINE 2021 Organising Team
