FAQ

EUROSPINE 2021 - Hybrid Annual Meeting

What does hybrid mean?

EUROSPINE 2021 will be a hybrid congress that unifies the in-person and the online audiences as if they were all attending in one place, projecting virtual presentations in the session halls while we will broadcast in-hall presentations online. Both audiences will interact with the speakers by asking questions and participating in polls in the same manner.

If you are unable to join the congress in person, you can watch every session directly from your office or the comfort of your home. It will be the same content that is presented to the participants in a session hall on-site.
The same goes for presenters that are unable to join the congress in-person. They will be able to join the session virtually and will be broadcasted to the session hall and on the virtual congress platform at the same time.
EUROSPINE delivered a state-of-the-art virtual conference last year. We have the technology and the expertise to deliver the EUROSPINE annual meeting experience online.

REGISTRATION & ATTENDANCE

Do I have to decide when I register if I am going to attend in-person or virtually only?
Yes, during the online registration process you can decide if you would like to attend in-person or virtually only.

If I am attending in-person, will I also have access to the sessions online?
Yes. You will have full access to the virtual congress platform to attend live sessions and also to the EUROSPINE e-library to watch on-demand videos of the recorded sessions after the conference.

Is there a price difference between a virtual registration and a live attendance?
Yes, there are different registrations fees for onsite attendance in Vienna and virtual attendance, since there are costs (such as coffee breaks, networking events, on-site secretariat etc.) that only apply to live attendance.
Please find the detailed registration fees and the included benefits here.

Which preventive measures will be implemented for my safety?
EUROSPINE is making every effort to make the event happen safely.
Please rest assured that our number one priority is to keep all participants of the EUROSPINE Annual Meeting safe and in good health, which is why we are constantly monitoring the situation and collaborate closely with our partners on-site as well as the Austrian health authorities to be able to react immediately in case of an emergency.
In any case, preventive measures will be implemented and will follow the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and national regulations at the time of the annual meeting.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

Do I need to be registered to present my abstract and for the publication of the abstract?
Yes, you have to be registered for EUROSPINE 2021 – no matter if for live or virtual attendance.

If I can't travel at the time of the meeting will I be able to present my abstract online?
Yes, same as for Virtual EUROSPINE 2020 there will also be the possibility to present remotely. Detailed instructions will be sent to you in due time.

Will the programme for EUROSPINE 2021 remain the same as for previous live congresses?
Interaction is key; therefore, the scientific programme has been adapted and restructured to suit the hybrid format as well. It will be highly interactive and attractive no matter whether you are joining in-person or virtually.
Online viewers will not only be able to watch the lectures but will take an active role and participate in the session directly as they would join in-person. This will happen through different channels and in various ways:
  • Live Q&A
  • Congress app
  • Polling
  • Gamification

Will the pre-day courses take place?
Yes, the pre-day courses will take place on Tuesday, 5 October on-site and will be broadcasted on the virtual congress platform.

How can on-site and virtual participants interact?
Both audiences will be able to network via the meeting hub at the virtual congress platform, which allows for chats and video calls. Besides, virtual and on-site participants can both actively participate in the congress.

How do I participate actively in a session on-site?
The congress will take place as a normal on-site congress for you. You can join sessions anytime you want. If you want to actively participate you can do that by asking questions directly in the session room or via the congress app. If there is voting in place you can take part in it as the years before by using the app.

How do I participate actively virtually?
The congress will also fully take place inside the virtual congress platform. Every session that takes place on-site will be recorded and broadcasted on the virtual platform in real time. Despite not being able to directly ask your question in the session room on-site, you have different options and will still be able to contribute and participate virtually:
  • Submit your question via the app and on the virtual platform
  • Take part in votings via the app
If your question is selected by the moderators, they will directly forward them to the speakers and the audience on-site. This is a great and easy way for you to play an active role in a session.

What about CME credits?
No matter if you join EUROSPINE from home or if you are on-site, CME credits will be available for every session you have participated in. Please note, however, CME credits are not available for watching on-demand content.

Will people in different time zones be able to participate? If so, how?
To ensure that the congress is accessible to everybody every session of the congress will be recorded. Additionally, every session will be available on-demand after the congress in the EUROSPINE e-library, in case you have missed anything during the day. Therefore, participants can consume the content regardless of their time zone. Besides, congress delegates will have the possibility to look at the sponsors and exhibitor profiles at the virtual congress platform anytime.

When will the sessions be available in the EUROSPINE e-library?
A session of EUROSPINE 2021 will be available within 24 hours after the session has taken place in the EUROSPINE e-library. Your access code to the EUROSPINE e-library will be sent to you in a separate e-mail at the time of the congress.
