News and Updates

25 May 2021

Many thanks to all of you who attended the Spring Webinar Series 2021.
Participants were able to learn from leaders in the spine field with the exchange of practical tips for everyday practice, and informative discussion about the topics presented.

Some important take-home messages:

  • The management of complex patients with Parkinson’s disease requires multi-disciplinary management
  • The rise of superbugs is not inevitable if we focus on best practice for infection control and management
  • Osteoporosis is becoming increasingly prevalent and surgeons should work with metabolic bone experts in the management of these patients.
  • Deformity surgery in stenosis needs to be specific for a medically optimised individual and performed in an experienced centre involving a multi-disciplinary team
  • Complex problems require complex planning and complex teamwork, with the degree of complexity increasing as patients age
  • The modern treatment of spinal metastatic tumour must be targeted to the individual patient. A spinal tumour board is a vital component of this.
