Dr. Balsano, MD, is Director of Regional Spinal Department of University of Verona, Italy and Professor of Spinal Surgery at the Universities of Verona and Sassari. He's a lead surgeon in deformities, and in the past 15 years has been involved in minimally invasive spine surgeries (MISS), performing hundreds of operations, especially on adult deformities. He performed the first XLIF surgery in Italy in 2008. He is reviewer of several spine journals and a member of the most important spinal societies, and a Board Member of ISASS. A medical graduate from the University of Padova, Italy (one of the oldest and well-known Italian universities for medical studies), Dr. Balsano completed his orthopaedic residency in Padova and served a spine fellowship at Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis. To date he has performed about 8000 spinal operations, mainly for adult and paediatric deformities, adult degenerative conditions, cervical pathologies, traumatology, and tumours. His interests are deformities, MISS, degenerative and trauma.
