Congress Opening
The local hosts Ciaran Bolger and Frank Dowling welcomed a record number of 2,331 registered delegates and a total number of 3,684 attendees to Dublin and EUROSPINE 2017 with words of encouragement to actively participate in the sessions, visit our sponsors and partners in the exhibition halls, but also not to miss out on what Dublin as a city has to offer. For the first time in the history of EUROSPINE a head of state, the president of Ireland Michael D Higgins, welcomed the participants to the congress and to Dublin. In his specially recorded video message
, he emphasised the importance of this meeting coming to Ireland and the significant contribution its members make towards the treatment of patients with spinal disorders.

Scientific Programme
The Wednesday programme had a lot to offer, starting with Epidemiology, Non-operative Treatment, Patient Safety and continuing with the first congress highlight, debate 1 on the topic To Screen or Not to Screen for Psychological Distress and Surgical Spine Intervention
As always, EUROSPINE Lunch Symposia and the parallel Industry sponsored Lunch Workshops offered a great variety to choose from – topic wise as well as culinary. The concurrent sessions QuickFires on the topics Deformity/Growing Spine, Basic Science and Degenerative Spine again attracted a great number of participants and even overflow areas were in use.
After the last session Adult Deformity, Complications everyone enjoyed the Welcome Reception, which offered food and drinks, as well as society sponsored entertainment in all exhibition areas to guarantee traffic and exposure to all our sponsors and partners alike!
