It was a great honour to choose the medal lecturer Mark Pollock, who is a great inspiration and motivator to many, mentions Frank Dowling. With his lecture, he got to the core of what EUROSPINE is all about – to achieve things through effort, study and hard work. Pollock capsuled the idea of this association - to get people together and work collaboratively to succeed. He resumes ‘EUROSPINE is the absolute epitome of collaboration of spine specialists from all over Europe and indeed from all over the world.’
Scientific Programme: after the excitements of the morning, Thursday had yet much more to offer! Again 2 EUROSPINE Lunch Symposia and several Industry sponsored Lunch Workshops attracted a great number of participants, followed by the sessions Growing Spine, Diagnostics and Cervical Spine before the EUROSPINE Members’ Cocktail took place in conjunction with the EUROSPINE General Assembly. Approximately 70 Members enjoyed some snacks and drinks, before listening to the society’s achievements 2017, approving the financial statements, choosing Vienna, Austria as the location for EUROSPINE 2020 and electing Tim Pigott as the society’s new Vice President! >> see the interview with Tim Pigott here!Achtung Link öffnet sich in einem neuen Fenster
Network Experience @ Guinness Storehouse (at own expense)
A record number of more than 400 guests came to enjoy the casual atmosphere at the Guinness Storehouse. Everyone was invited to walk through the Guinness Museum upon arrival, drummers welcomed the guests in a true Irish manner and of course with a Guinness to try, before the impact dance show really wowed each and everyone of us!
The official part of the evening began with a cordial welcome and toast by local host Ciaran Bolger. Followed by heartwarming words from Margareta Nordin, EUROSPINE Past President to be a few minutes later, thanking the EUROSPINE ExCom for their excellent work during her presidency and giving a big hand to the office team for support mostly behind the scenes, before she ceremonially handed over the EUROPSINE presidency 2017-2018 to Frank Kandziora. As first act of his presidency Frank Kandziora, did not only thank everyone for the honour of having been elected for the position, he also gave a small insight into what to expect in the next year.
